Here are the steps: 1. delete the name and number from your contact list, recent call list, fav list, and any and all message threads. 2. start a new text by typing in the first letter or so of the person’s name (or the digits of the number) and they should still pop up in a drop down box. Although this seems like a problem that could be easily fixed, he found that e ven after he edited the phone number in his contacts and added the area code, he still got the “invalid number” texts when he tried to communicate with that contact.. Go straight to messages and compose a new message and put in the phone number of the person you're trying to text. send and that person should receive the text message. add the person to your contacts and go back into message settings to turn on any other options you want on that you turned off..
You may wish to speak to at&t technical or at&t data support not at&t general care. if you are unable to get to one of these agents. please contact apple at 1-800-my-iphone and inform the tech rep of your issue.. Update personal number to include "1" and area code go to the iphone's contacts and update the personal information to have a phone number with "1", the area code, the 7-digit main number. in. This at least lets me text the offending number, but it is not ideal as i can't reply back directly in the same text thread - i have to go back to the work-around number to send a reply. this was an infuriating problem and really puts a dent in my opinon of apple that they have let this issue fester for years, apparently..
